Ontario Set Medics provides productions companies with provincially certified, unionized, and passionate medics.
We are provincially certified medics who practice under the license of a medical director. All our medics have graduated from a Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care recognized Ontario Primary Care Paramedic Program and hold a minimum qualification of a Primary Care Diploma, Province of Ontario Advanced Emergency Medical Care Assistant (A-EMCA) certification, International Trauma and Life Support (ITLS) Basic certification, and CPR Level HCP/BLS.

Unlike our competitors, we provide you with all the documentation and certifications to verify the information below and ensure
you are getting the medical coverage your cast and crew need.
Provincially certified medics with added International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) certification.
Ability to legally administer approved medications to those who meet the requirements within the OSM medical directives.
Our medics will be working with access to the latest surrounding the ever-changing environment of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Medical staff will be available for the entire duration of the filming, providing any treatments that may be necessary.
A copy of the provincial BLS and OSM’s ALS Patient Care Standards, as authored and approved by the medical director. These standards dictate the medics’ scope of practice and delegated acts. The ability to legally administer approved medications to those who meet the requirements within the OSM medical directives. Ability to establish a full set of baseline vital signs, cardiac monitoring, analysis, and defibrillation, if required. Apart from transport, all medics provide the same level of assessment and care as regional paramedic services and are equipped with fully stocked treatment kits.
Standard Changes
Similar to the changes made to provincial EMS standards, Ontario Set Medics have had to adjust how we provide care to our patients on set during COVID-19 times. Changes were made to ensure we are protecting our medics while continuing to provide care to all our patients.
PCR COVID-19 Testing
We are one of the only set medic companies that have an emergency physician that has delegated us to perform polymerase chain reaction (PCR) COVID-19 nasal testing. With this delegation, we can test anyone ≥ 2 years of age.
COVID-19 Screening
We are performing start-of-day screening of cast and crew on productions throughout the pandemic. We understand the importance of temperature checks and the use of tympanic thermometers to get the most accurate results. In addition, we also take pulse oximeter readings for every individual, which has been a great tool in identifying under-detected
COVID-19 symptoms.

When I joined my show there was another medical company already in place, but as a veteran Ontario paramedic myself, my standards were high, and they did not meet the mark.
